Oscars 2015 fashion

Yesterday was what they call ‘the biggest night in fashion’ ow and in film of course, the 87th Academy Awards a.k.a. the Oscars. I have to admit though, that it’s not my favorite night in fashion since the dresses are overall not really edgy and sexy but a little more, let’s call it, mature.

I selected the following looks which stood out to me for the good or the bad:

oscars

Chrissy Teigen once again looked stunning on the carpet, wearing Zuhair Murad. Lupita Nyong’O rocked it in this Calvin Klein pearl number. An all red dress by Givenchy looked beautiful on Rosamund Pike. Never thought I would ever say this but I think Jennifer Aniston hit the right note with her Versace gown (guess the fact that it’s a Versace dress helped a lot). Personally, I really liked Rita Ora‘s choice by Marchesa, the gold details are super chic. Katie Cassidy in Julian MacDonald was another hit. I have to compliment David Oyelowo for doing something different, really like his red suit by Dolce & Gabbana. The quite simple Ralph & Russo piece Gwyneth Paltrow wore I can appreciate as well. Finally, I like the pretty bold choice Laura Dern made with her Alberta Ferretti gown.

Nicole Kidman however, looked pretty awful in this Louis Vuitton dress. The Gabriela Cadena gown Lorelei Linklater wore has way too much going on in my opinion. Keira Knightley opted for this old English looking Valentino number, no bueno. We also saw some kind of shower curtain on the carpet designed by Dior on Marion Cotillard. Solange had a big mess of fabric on her body by Christian Siriano. Maybe Chloe Grace Moretz and Will.I.Am had a sleepover party together, as she brought this bed sheets by Miu Miu while the Black Eyed Peas singer seemed to be still in his pj’s. Usually Jennifer Lopez can hardly do anything wrong to me but I don’t like this Elie Saab gown on her, her skin and the dress look almost like the exact same color and that’s what bothers me. There’s also nothing wrong with Scarlett Johansson‘s Versace dress but the necklace and the awful hair fail to make an impression.

Of course the stars change into a different look for the after parties, the Vanity Fair and Elton John ones being the most important. My girl Jennifer Lopez luckily got this one totally right, in Zuhair Murad and this beautiful fur wrap , she looks like the diva I love. Also in Zuhair Murad, Sofia Vergara shows off her curvy figure. Heidi Klum sparkles in her silver Versace dress, party proof!

Tom Ford fall 2015

First of all my apologies for the lack of updates last few days, but I’ve been sick. Bad timing since it’s fashion week season.

Friday Tom Ford showcased his fall 2015 ready to wear collection in Los Angeles. A star studded event, which was almost an Oscar pre-party. Beyonce & Jay-Z, Reese Witherspoon, Rita Ora, Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Palthrow, Fergie & Josh Duhamel, Sofia Vergara and many more stars attended. My girl Jennifer Lopez wowed the crowd in a head to toe Tom Ford look.

This Tom Ford collection is different from his previous ones. Personally I’m not really a fan of the denim and colorful bohemian prints. Luckily the line featured some gorgeous pieces as well. My favs:

Music video to watch: Ayo by Chris Brown & Tyga

Check out this amazing new music video bij urban stars Chris Brown & Tyga – Ayo. The video was directed by Colin Tilley and shot in the lovely Los Angeles.

What I especially like about the video is that it kinda takes you back to the 90’s: it has a luxe vibe and it looks like a classic hip hop video from back in the day. The fur coat Tyga is wearing towards the end of the video is to die for by the way!

Ayo serves as the first single of the collaborative album of Chris Brown and Tyga: Fan Of A Fan: The Album, which drops February 24th in the US.

Kanye West debuts new track Wolves at Adidas fashion show

Yeezy Season season just kicked off! This afternoon, Kanye West and Adidas hosted a fashion show that unveiled his new collection, which also includes the new hype sneaker: the Yeezy Boost.

Thing is Kanye had more to debut besides his new collection at the fashion show. The clothing line presentation featured a brand new track! The song is called ‘Wolves’ and features Vic Mensa & Sia. ‘Wolves’ was produced by Cashmere Cat and Sinjin Hawke.

I will post my favorite pieces of the collection later on.

Hype shoe: Yeezy Boost

After designing, very successful, sneakers for Nike and Louis Vuitton Kanye West teamed up with Adidas this time. The highly anticipated Yeezy Boost shoe will be released February 14 in New York.

Adidas created the Confirmed up in order to make a reservation for the much hyped about sneaker. Reservations are only available for people in the NYC area though. No word yet about the rest of the world.

Besides these sneakers Kanye also designed clothing for Adidas, rumored is that his collection will feature about 30 pieces. The full collection will be revealed at a New York fashion week event this Thursday.

Grammys 2015 fashion

Award season is in full force and yesterday it was the biggest night in music with the annual Grammy Awards.

Overall I really like the Grammys since the fashion is often a little edgier and braver. This year was kinda a let down to me as hardly any big name in music wowed me with their red carpet looks.

Most outstanding red carpet looks of the event according to me:
grammy

First of all Mr. and Mrs. West, Kim rocked a Jean Paul Gaultier number which looks good on her body and works for the type of event. KanYe was dressed in a chic Balmain suit. What I especially like is that he’s not wearing a typical shirt and suit. Katharine McPhee might be my best dressed of the night in this lovely Pucci dress, you can hardly go wrong with this beautiful designer in my opinion. Another winner on the red carpet to me was Katy Perry in a Zuhair Murad piece.

Chrissy Teigen, John Legend’s lady, also picked a Pucci design which looks absolutely gorgeous. Gwen Stefani made it work in an Atelier Versace jumpsuit/ Did you noticed she isn’t rocking her signature red lip?! Rosci Diaz dazzled in a plunging neckline Jovanni gown.

Nicki Minaj dresses so much better than a few years ago, last night she looked chic in Tom Ford. Joy Villa on the other hand, must be the worst dressed of the night. This orange Andre Soriano ‘design’ looks like a military camouflage (well in another color that is) net or construction snow fencing. The nipple tape and nude thong flashing also didn’t help. Rihanna’s hair and makeup looked flawless but her Giambattista Valli dress totally missed the mark. Reminds me of this dolls from back in the day, lower part of the dress was a toilet paper roll and they knitted around it. The singer said she found the dress online, perfect example of bad online shopping…

Personal collection: fragrances

Some of my readers and friends requested a blog post about my favorite perfumes.

Let me start with my signature scent Dsquared2’s Rocky Mountain He Wood. rocky mountain woodThe scent was inspired by Canadian mountains. It is composed of rocky notes, mountain aromas and woody accords. The fragrance includes notes as amber, incense and musk, which reflect rocky notes, along with violet, Canadian lily and white pepper. Vetiver and cedar finish the composition.

grey vertiverAnoter one of my favorites is Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver. The perfume features a dominant vetiver accompanied with salty notes and sunny, woody accords. It includes citrus, spices, oakmoss, precious wood and vetiver.

A cologne I recently bought is Wonderoud by Comme des Garçons. Oud is really popular in the fragrance world these days. comme-des-garcons-wonderoudIt is one of nature’s most precious gifts, worth its weight in gold. Very aromatic and scented with subtle notes. Its powerful and rich character brings a woody, animal, balsamic and even honey feel and texture to a fragrance. The notes include Texas cedarwood, oud, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, guaiac wood and pashminol.
